Katrina can’t hold us Down!

A blog from my New Orleans trip in November.

Katrina

The name could cause some to shudder like Voldemort in Harry Potter, but New Orleans is a city that has taken its hit and is coming back stronger than ever!

I recently spent a week in this beautiful city with a group of outstanding Sophomores from Minnesota.  They were ready to bring the kingdom to this city that is STILL recovering from Katrina.  They brought the hope of Christ and His promises of a future to people struggling to make ends meet and find their own way.  Whether it was leading a Bible study, helping kids after school, ministering to the homeless, these Sophomores stepped boldly out of their comfort zones to leave a footprint in the city.

Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours – Deut 11:24

God is so good, in everything we did He was in it and moving in the lives of people.  One particular memory I have is when we went out to the river walk in downtown New Orleans to worship and pray.  Yes we received some funny looks, but it was great to be in the heart of the city worshiping the God of the Universe!
